Blue Plate Cards and Creations

About Us

What’s in a Name?

The term “Blue Plate” or “Blue Plate Special” came into fashion around 1918 in reference to restaurant meals.  It referred to “a complete dinner offered at a reasonable price and served on a single large plate of good grade china.”

When you think of the term “Blue Plate,” imagine – warmth, comfort, delight, relaxation, restfulness, friendship, with a little bit of nostalgia thrown in for good measure.

How does “Blue Plate” make the shift from

Food Service to Paper Crafting?

A good question!

Soon after starting to teach paper crafting and cardmaking classes, a class, called the “Blue Plate Special” was created!  It was held one Tuesday evening each month.  Not only would attendees make the monthly cards, they would also enjoy dinner served on (You guessed it!) Blue Willow-Type Plates!

Blue Plate Cards and Creations
Its Beginnings!

We made beautiful cards and also provided a warm, comfortable, relaxing, and restful atmosphere at the end of a long day to develop lasting friendships and enhance our creative skills.

Out of this one evening a month, the idea for

Blue Plate Cards and Creations

emerged!

The focus of Blue Plate Cards and Creations will always be to provide creative adventures, to develop lasting friendships (in-person and/or online), to share ideas, and to experience the joy of creating and learning together.

Thank you for joining me on this

Creative Journey!

  1. Dear Peggy,
I came to your classes in your home when I lived in Tn. And was delighted to find you would send me kits after I moved. (And had to move a few years later, I am a Pastor and the conference just loves to move us every few years.) Being able to get your kits helped make me feel connected to Tn. In a few years (hopefully 3) I’ll be retired and moving back to Tn. I will definitely return to your classes.
In the meantime, I am very impressed with your new name, blog and web site.
    YOU GO GIRL!!
You are so creative and artistic, I am sure your “branching out” will be well received and many new followers will by word of mouth. God Bless your venture.

    1. Denise,
It’s always great to hear from you! Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtfulness! I’m excited about all the possibilities!
Retirement is great! It will be wonderful to have you back in TN in a few years. Wishing you the very best!
      Peggy
