Let’s Go For The Gold or I should say the Gilded Leafing!

Have you been watching the Summer Olympics?  Watching the athletes set their sights on the Gold Medal is awe-inspiring!  I can only imagine the skill, concentration, and above all practice, practice, and more practice it takes to reach the Olympic level.

Thinking about Gold Medals made me think of Gilded Leafing and ‘Going for the Gold in Cardmaking’!

What is Gilded LeafingGilded Leafing is a jar of very thin gold flakes.  These thin gold flakes, along with an adhesive, can be used to add a special ‘gold medal’ look to your card making or paper crafting projects.  In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a few Gilded Leafing techniques you could use for adding this creative touch to your crafting experiences.  So stay tuned!

I’ve always enjoyed learning about the history, symbols, and fun facts about world events.  So, here are a few facts about the Olympic Rings and their colors.

Olympic Rings

  • The Olympic Rings were first introduced in 1913
  • This symbol consists of 5 interlocking circles in 5 different colors – blue, yellow, black, green, and red – on a white background
  • At least one of these colors is found in all the national flags of the world
  • The 5 ring colors represent the 5 participating continents – Africa, Asia, The Americas, Europe, and Oceania
  • The white background represents Unity

I look forward to having you join me as we
