Today is National Camera Day – June 29!
I’m definitely not an expert when it comes to Photography. However, along my short ‘Photography Journey’ I’ve learned several basic insights… (not necessarily in this order)

8 Insights From A Beginner For Taking Better Pictures (For Your Scrapbook, Cards, or Just Because!)
- Cameras have come a long way since the arrival of the Brownie, Poloroid Instant Camera, Instamatic, etc.
- Our iPhones, (Androids) are really great cameras! No need to purchase a DSLR camera at the outset of your photography experience.
- Learn as much as you can about the photographic features of your iPhone or camera (I just learned about the portrait setting of my iPhone!)
- Always be ready to take that photo. (Especially when there is a large owl on the backyard fence or there are 3 golden eagles close to your home, but your iphone is nowhere to be found!)
- Photograph what you really love!
- Don’t be discouraged when you make mistakes, but use them as stepping stones, learn from them, and then move on.
- Never quit learning! If you enjoy taking online courses, do some research and find a photography course that interests you.
- One last one – Note To Self! Don’t put your camera or phone in a tote bag that also contains a bottle of water. Ask me how I know:-) A very hard and costly lesson to learn!
If you have any tips, hints, ideas, I love to hear from you in the comments below.
